Fisherman Meetings & TED Checks – Houma

Louisiana Sea Grant agents will be holding fishermen meetings in the Lafourche-Terrebonne area to coincide with NOAA TED checks. The March 14 meeting in Houma will be at the Dumas Auditorium, 301 W. Tunnel Blvd., from 2 – 4:30 pm.

Learn more about what’s new in the industry, best practices, and coastal adaptation strategies; specific topics include:

  • Safety on the Boat:  it’s everyone’s job
  • Shrimp & Crab Biological Update
  • Quality Product Handling:  impact on profits
  • Small Business Practices
  • ABCs of Trip Tickets: how & when to complete
  • Louisiana Shrimp Association Updates
  • Adaptation to Coastal Change Survey

There is no cost to attend, and no registration necessary.  Light refreshments will be available.

Make plans to also attend NOAA TED checks in Chauvin, Dulac & Cocoderie, March 13-15. TEDs will be measured and approved to be sure they are properly installed — NO enforcement actions will be taken. Have your nets hanging so that the TEDs are a few feet above the deck.

The U.S. Coast Guard may also be available at some locations for dockside safety exams, with no enforcement actions taken.
