Gulf Council: Opportunity for Public Testimony

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council meets January 25-28, 2021 by webinar. The Council is scheduled to take final action on four items at this meeting:
  • Reef Fish Amendment 48/Red Drum Amendment 5 – Status Determination Criteria and Optimum Yield for Reef Fish and Red Drum
  •  Framework Action to Adjust State Recreational Red Snapper Catch Limits
  • Framework Action to Modify Gray Triggerfish Catch Limits
  • Framework Action to Modify Gulf of Mexico Lane Snapper Catch Limits and Accountability Measures.
During the meeting, there are two opportunities for the public to interact with the Council and NOAA Fisheries leadership staff:
Public Testimony
2:30 – 5:00 PM EST on Wednesday, January 27, 2021
Public testimony will be held using an operator assisted phone call service. Participants wishing to give public testimony will need to join the meeting audio by phone; call 833-970-2435 and use the conference code 57 481 29.

Question and Answer Session
5:00 – 6:00 PM EST on Tuesday, January 26, 2021
The Gulf Council and NOAA Fisheries will host a virtual question and answer session to provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions about the science and management of fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico.
Leadership from the Gulf Council, Southeast Regional Science Center, and NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Office will be among panelists that will be answering questions from the public.
Participants will be able to listen online through the Go-To-Webinar application or through the phone. If you want to speak to ask a question, you must join the webinar online. Alternatively, during the meeting, you can email questions to [email protected] or text them to 813-317-6220 and a staff member will ask on your behalf.
