September Gulf Council Meeting

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will meet September 28-30, 2020 by webinar. The Council will appoint members to its Coastal Migratory Pelagics and Red Drum Advisory Panels. The Council also plans to discuss the Executive Order on Promoting American Seafood Competitiveness and Economic Growth. The Council will consider public input on ways to reduce barriers to domestic fishing and create a list of recommendations on ways to reduce burdens and increase production from our fishery.
On Monday September 28, 2020 the Council will hear a presentation from NOAA’s Office of Protected Resources on addressing interactions between fishing and dolphins. NOAA Fisheries is currently soliciting input on proposed regulations for safely deterring marine mammals from damaging fishing gear, catch, property, or endangering personal safety.
