Standing, Reef Fish, Mackerel, and Socioeconomic Scientific and Statistical Committees

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will host a meeting of its Standing, Reef Fish, Mackerel, and Socioeconomic Scientific and Statistical Committees. The meeting will convene at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 and adjourn no later than 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. The meeting will be held at the Gulf Council’s office at 4107 W. Spruce Street, Suite 200, Tampa, FL 33607.
The Scientific and Statistical Committees will address the following:
  • SEDAR 61 – Red Grouper Stock Assessment
    • Review of model, results, and projections
    • Discuss stock status determination
    • Discuss overfishing limits and acceptable biological catch recommendations
    • Review a draft executive summary
  • Gulf Lane Snapper Stock Assessment Update
    • Review of model and projections
    • Discuss overfishing limits and acceptable biological catch recommendations
  • Discuss Variability in Yield Projections from Stock Assessments
  • Review Southeast Fisheries Science Center Key Stocks Analysis
  • Review South Atlantic Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee Recommendations for MRIP APAIS/FES Survey Methods
  • Review White Paper on SEDAR Best Practices for Use of Recreational Survey Data
  • Discussion of Council Research and Monitoring Priorities for 2020 – 2024
  • Update to Revisions of Status Determination Criteria Amendment
  • Discussion of the Gulf SEDAR Assessment Schedule
  • Terms of Reference and Participants in SEDAR 70: Gulf of Mexico Greater Amberjack
  • Terms of Reference and Participants in SEDAR 72: Gulf of Mexico Gag
  • Discussion of Allocation Review
  • Review of Draft Technical Memo: “National Standard 1 Technical Guidance for Designing, Evaluating, and Implementing Carry-over and Phase-in Provisions within ABC Control Rules”
