In state and federal waters off Louisiana Coast

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Rob Shadoin signed a declaration of emergency to close the recreational red snapper season in state and federal waters off Louisiana at 11:59 p,m. on December 31.

LA Creel indicates that 845,951 pounds, or 91 percent of Louisiana’s 2023 annual private recreational allocation of 934,587 pounds, have been harvested through December 3.  A final report will be issued in January with the complete landing data for the entire 2023 season once all data has been reported.
