Commission to Allow Oyster Lease Holders to Renew Leases by Mail

Yesterday, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted to allow oyster leases to be renewed by mail for the 2020-2021 lease renewal period.  As has occurred in past years, oyster leases may also be renewed in person at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) office in New Orleans.  Instructions on how to renew your oyster lease will be mailed to the address on file with the department around November 1.

To renew an oyster lease by mail, the applicant will be required to return the following documents:

  1. A notarized application
  2. A copy of your state-issued ID
  3. Check or Money Order made out to the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
