Gulf Council Convenes a Virtual Meeting of its Shrimp Advisory Panel

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene a meeting of its Shrimp Advisory Panel from 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM, EST on November 16, 2020. The meeting will be held via webinar.

During the meeting, the Advisory Panel will hear an update on National Marine Fisheries Service Shrimp Working Groups. Next, it will hear a presentation and discuss data issues with unmatched trips. The Advisory Panel will also discuss a pilot program to evaluate the use of vessel navigation systems to measure shrimping effort. Finally, the advisory panel will hear presentations on better bycatch reduction devices and on small bar turtle excluder devices.

Public comment will be held over the webinar before the meeting adjourns.
