Louisiana Sea Grant College Program at LSU announces that the Louisiana Fisheries Forward Summit is postponed until March 1, 2023.  Normally held every two years, Summit is the state’s premier commercial fishing and seafood event that offers workshops, demonstrations, and expo.

“It was a tough call to postpone, but Hurricane Ida caused complete devastation in many critical areas,” said Thomas Hymel, Louisiana Fisheries Forward program director and marine Extension agent with Louisiana Sea Grant and the LSU AgCenter.  “Our team, including leadership at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, felt that a large number of fishermen, docks and processors would still be focused on recovery this spring and unwilling to travel.”

Planning is already underway for the 2023 event, and organizers will alert registrants, vendors, and the industry at large when registration opens again.
